What is the Be.Imba! SOAP api?
It is an open remote interface for websites to access Be.Imba! data remotely.
Why would I need to use it?
If you operate a website related to WoW characters, you may want to integrate the scoring system used here. The SOAP api allows you to do this.
What do I need to use it?
First you need to request a client key. You can do it here. Your key will be e-mailed to you with an activation url. By visiting the activation url your key will be enabled in an hour. Keys not activated in 48 hours will be deleted.
Second, you need to implement the SOAP queries on your side.
Optimizing
You are encouraged to locally cache the data returned to reduce the usage of server resources at both sides. If the pool of characters you may query is relatively constant (guild sites for example) it may be a good idea to schedule the queries as a batch job for a mass update. The most silent hours are 4-6 AM CET.
Emergency
In case the external calls are causing troubles first the badly behaving client will be disabled. The person who requested that client's access will be contacted immediately for a solution.
In real emergency the whole access shall be disabled for further investigation. In this case everyone who have access will be contacted.
